Dear Neighborhood Leaders who are looking at school closures, Take my word
for it, the problems that arise will by beyond your wildest dreams. Willard
School was closed in part because it was unsafe to house children in a
building that didn't meet Earthquake Standards but is now about 75% full
again of children who look a heck of a lot like the last bunch of kids only
with their ages running a bit older and a bit younger. Try to think the
morals of that one out. Most of you have heard of our noise problems with
PYCO; but have you heard about the traffic problems caused with PYCO
students dashing between cars after school lets out on Williamette Street?
Then there is the issue of when the land is sold. Will it be more
commercial development or what sort of houseing? Or as my Grandmother used
to say: "It could always be worse." Good luck! nancy ellen locke, Friendly
