The Great Energy Debate of 2002 has begun!

Last Tuesday (March 5), the Senate began discussing the revised energy bill
introduced by Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle. Over the course of the
next few weeks, the Senate will debate dozens of possible amendments to this
energy legislation - everything from the routing of a natural gas pipeline
from Alaska's North Slope to improved Corporate Average Fuel Efficiency
(CAFE) standards.

But what about an amendment to drill in the Arctic Refuge? Currently, no
such amendment has been offered. However, we fully expect one of the
business-as-usual Senators to offer one in the next few weeks. It's just a
matter of time.
