To further comment to Ron Kaloviter, the Forest Service did cancel the contract with Friends of Bagby in July 2001 because of problems created by the past administration. There were no work parties from March 2001 to July 2001 because of the past vice president wanting them canceled because the hardest workers didn't agree with him. The past President also stated to me once that the Forest Service didn't care if nothing gets done up there. Those of us who do care about the Bagby Hot Springs took back control of the organization on July 6, 2001 and from mid-July until late January Friends of Bagby provided a presence and still held by-monthly work parties. FOB are the ones who rebuilt the steps according to Forest Service plans. We worked side-by-side with two people from the Forest Service to put a new cedar shake roof on the historic cabin. As far as the Friends of Bagby Hot Springs, Inc. not be in the Forest Service Plan for Bagby Hot Springs, well don't believe everything you read in the newspaper. The Forest Service has stayed in contact with me throughout this whole ordeal. When the Forest Service wants something important done they contact me. Secretary for Friends of Bagby Hot Springs, Inc. and appointed Forest Service liaison. We are currently waiting for the go ahead from Forest Service to mill lumber for the lower and private deck. As soon as we get word as to when we can start milling a notice will go out. If you care about Bagby Hot Springs come to our meetings and become a member. Don't judge us by what other people say. Come meet us and find out for yourself first hand what we are all about.
