Southeast Neighbors General Meeting on the Natural Resources Study
Tonight - Tuesday, February 11, 2003
7:00pm to 9:00pm
Hilyard Community Center
2580 Hilyard Street, Eugene
Please join us on February 11 at the Hilyard Community Center for potluck desert and discussion, as our first General Meeting of the year focuses on the city Natural Resources Study (NRS) and its potential costs and benefits for us and our neighbors.
The city of Eugene has been working to try to complete our state planning Goal 5 natural resources inventory at least since 1987, yet upland natural resource areas like those in the southeast hills are still not even officially inventoried, let alone protected.
Why has the public hearing before the Eugene City Council, previously scheduled for February 24th, been postponed? Why has Eugene worked for 15 years and still not completed our initial planning inventory of upland (meaning non-riverside, non-wetland) wildlife habitat, required by state law?
What difference does the NRS make to our neighborhood? What would an NRS draft inventory listing mean to your particular property?
We'll try to address all these questions at our general meeting, with brief presentations from city staff and a citizens planning group. We'll have maps available for reference, down to the detail of individual lot lines. We'll have lots of time for discussion and questions and answers. There will also be a city staff presentation and questionnaire on parks and open space planning.
And we'll have great desserts!
Looking forward to seeing you there,
